Medicaid expansion offers hope for those wrestling with addiction. Will it be enough?
At the McLeod Centers for Wellbeing, which has nine treatment centers, most of them in the greater Charlotte region, about 25% of the 6,000 people treated each year now qualify for Medicaid, President Mary Ward said. ‘Preserving their dignity’: Renovated South Charlotte resource center supports people in crisis
“It’s really about preserving their dignity and respect because they’ve made a critical and very difficult decision,” said Mary Ward, president of the McLeod Centers for Wellbeing. Ward says the nonprofit serves an average of nearly 4,000 people each day.
Jonathan Cansler is one of the many people to find help and hope from the centers.“Had I not made it to the McLeod Center, I don’t think I would be here today,” he said.
